The Wild Numbers
This paper studies the integers that belong the multiplicative semigroup W generated by { 2n+1 : n ≥ 0} and 1 2 . They form a multiplicative semigroup W(Z) of integers which we call the wild integer semigroup, and the wild numbers are the generators of W(Z). It presents convincing evidence that the wild numbers consist of all prime numbers excluding 3.

That is, W0 is the set of all finite products of the generators, allowing repetitions. Let W signify the larger multiplicative semigroup generated by W0 together with {1/2}. We call W the wild semigroup and W0 the Wooley semigroup. The question we consider is: Which integers belong to these semigroups? The sets of integer elements W(Z) := W ∩ Z and W0(Z) := W0 ∩ Z themselves form multiplicative...
متن کاملMorphological Changes in Response to Drought Stress in Cultivated and Wild Almond Species
This study was undertaken to identify morphological changes in young seedlings of 5 Iranian almond species (Prunus dulcis, P. eburnea, P. eleagnifolia, P. haussknechti, and P. scoparia) under polyethylene glycol-induced drought stress. Drought stress caused a significant reduction in plant growth parameters such as fresh and dry weights of plant organs, leaf number, total leaf area, and leaf re...
متن کاملDiversity of chromosome numbers and meiotic studies in genus Anchusa (Boraginaceae) from Iran (10 Nov 2015)
The present study reports the chromosome number and meiotic behaviour of 14 populationsbelonging to four taxa of Anchusa subgenus Buglossum Gusul. from Iran. All populationsshowed the chromosome number 2n= 4x= 32. It is the first meiotic study for A. subg.Buglossum. We discuss some habit form and evolutionary aspect in the light of cytogeneticdata. The origin of polyploidy (auto-allopolyploidy)...
متن کاملChromosome-Numbers in Bromeliaceae
Eighty-three chromosome counts are reported for 72 taxa of the Bromeliaceae. Fifty-eight of these counts are the first known chromosome number reports for their respective taxa. A model of chromosomal evolution in the Bromeliaceae (n = 25) is presented. The model is parsimonious and consistent with existing data on meiotic chromosome numbers within the family and in the closely related Vellozia...
